The voice is familiar ... Although his TV appearances - in the Eric Sykes and Hattie Jacques shows and particularly in the ITV series Please Sir! - have made him into a very familiar face, a lot of people recognise him by his voice. 'I find that much more touching,' said Deryck, back in The Men from the Ministry (Thursday 6.15 Radio 4). 'I really feel you've got somewhere if somebody remembers you purely because of your voice.' |

Richard Murdoch (left) and Deryck Guyler Richard 'Stinker' Murdoch, who died this year, starred for over 52 years in great radio comedies such as Band Waggon, Much-Binding-In-The-Marsh and The Men from the Ministry. Deryck Guyler, who, for many years, was Murdoch's 'Number One' in The Men from the Ministry, says: 'Dickie was wonderful to work with and very funny. I miss him very much.'
